Man shot on Wirt Avenue in Portsmouth

PORTSMOUTH, Va. (WAVY) — Portsmouth Police say a man was shot Sunday night.

The incident happened just after 7 p.m. in the 1300 block of Wirt Avenue in Portsmouth.

Officers arrived on scene to find a man suffering from a gunshot wound to the lower body.

He was taken to the hospital with injuries that are not considered life-threatening.
