Black Lives Matter 757 holding press conference on DeShayla Harris, woman killed in Oceanfront shootings
VIRGINIA BEACH (WAVY) -- Black Lives Matter 757 is expected to hold a press conference Friday to discuss the case of DeShayla Harris, the reality TV star and Hampton Roads native killed during one of several shootings on March 26 at the Virginia Beach Oceanfront.
The group is expected to share updates during the briefing at noon. WAVY will be there.
DeShayla, AKA “Shay,” was killed by what police said was a stray bullet in the 300 block of 19th Street. Nine other people were hurt by bullets during the shootings that night, and 25-year-old Donovon Lynch was fatally shot by a Virginia Beach police officer.
No arrests have been made in Harris' death. The medical examiner says she was struck in the head by a bullet.
The Harris family has pushed for justice, and have criticized Virginia Beach police and city officials for their handling of the incident.
WAVY will carry the press conference live here online and on Facebook.
